BLUE DOT SUNDAY
Tri Community Food Bank

I wanted to let the members and guests of CCSB to know what a blessing they have been in their continued support of BLUE DOT SUNDAY !! This last Blue Dot Sunday was terrific. Once again our congregation came through with flying colors.

As I have mentioned in the recent past contributions in general have been down and the needs of the communities has risen. Last week Vern and Marian Lanham joined me in delivering the "FULL" truck load of Blue Dot Sunday contributions and stocking the bare shelves of the food bank. This was their first time in helping and they pitched in and in no time were unloading the food and stocking the shelves like they had done it many times before. The work isn't easy and when it's hot out it can be a challenge. I wanted to let all know how important and valuable each and every one of you is that volunteers to help out with any of the Mission projects.

This particular delivery day The Food Bank had only one volunteer trying to run the food bank and thrift shop. When we arrived and stocked the shelves he was able to keep the doors open and begin passing out the much needed food boxes. What a wonderful Blessing to join in this effort. Thanks again to all who donated and helped this Mission project.

Now comes the challenge! The community of SaddleBrooke in general is a most generous and giving community and as you know has many worthwhile opportunities to get involved with to help others of us that are in need. SaddleBrooke has projects running from helping out the San Carlos Indian Community, Kids Closet and the list goes on.

Our own mission projects here at CCSB also have many opportunities to get involved in. Keep your weekly church bulletins and choose to get involved in the ones that most touches your hearts. The season is getting close when we start calling for everything from more food for the Food Bank , to collections of blankets (which we need a new sponsor), gifts for the Hayden Senior Center - Adopt a Senior and the need for more $$ donations for at least nine other wonderful worthwhile Mission projects.

The Mission Committee members take these obligations very seriously. The individual projects are carefully checked out to ensure that our time, donations and monies go to address the needs that they are intended for. These folks work hard! Please pray for the committee liaisons and all of those that donate and volunteer to help. Maybe you will find a "pet" Mission project that you can get involved in. Many of our members have worked/volunteered for many years to keep these projects going and ensure that they continue to meet the standards that we expect of our different Mission projects. Sometimes they get tired and sure could use some help and new "blood" to help keep them going! Pray about it and see if the Holy Spirit leads you to help in a meaningful way.

The Tri-Community Food Bank is always looking for volunteers that can commit to a day a week or two days a month on a regular basis. They need physical help running the store, stocking the shelves, handing out food boxes, sorting out clothing, manning the store, doing book work. It takes a lot of work to keep the doors open to one of our very important mission projects. In a few months the store will be relocating to a new location and I will be sending out a PLEA for much needed help to get the store and all of the furniture and usable items moved and set up in the new store location. Hard physical work indeed but I know that there are still a few of us old timers with bad backs, hips and knees that can still lift a few pounds for a few hours. Please keep this in mind and when the call goes out the more bodies when can muster together to get the job down the easier it will be on each of us that does help!

Again I want to thank all of you that continue to donate month after month to the Food Bank and I am going to ask you to dig a little deeper and toss in just one more can of soup, one more box of cereal or Mac & cheese, a jar of peanut butter or jam. Go the extra mile and during your next rip to Costco or Sam's Club grab an extra big bag of rice or beans and some Zip-loc bags so we can provide more food for less money. I know that soon we all will be asked to donate to a dozen causes, so pick out your favorites and get er done. I'm counting on you once again to fill up the truck with food for those less fortunate and to share God's abundant blessings with others that HE loves as we also should do.

One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.
