I was born and raised in Battle Creek Michigan and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1954. I was active in athletics, student leadership and graduated 27 in a class of 375. During high school I was active in the youth group at First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the board of ushers. I attended the University of Michigan and graduated with a Bachelors of Architecture degree in 1959. In college I participated in intercollegiate athletics, student leadership and was president of the Senior Board of the Undergraduate Class of 1959. Seven days after graduation I married Kathy Sweezy, my high school sweetheart and moved to Dallas TX where we started our careers. I joined the Michigan National Guard in the fall of 1960 and after basic training moved to Grand Haven MI. We spent the next 45 years in west Michigan raising a family of three boys and practicing architecture. In the last 12 years of my career I was the sole proprietor of a consulting firm that managed three large projects for a group of private and public investors who raised over 350 million dollars. The projects included a 12,000 seat arena, one million square foot convention center and a start up biomedical research institute. All three projects were delivered on time and under budget.
CCSB Participation
We have attended CCSB since April 2002 when we purchased our home in SB. I have become more involved in church activities since we became full time residents two years ago. I have ushered, served on the Altar Guild and have chaired the Property Management Committee for the past year.

I am an experienced team player and problem solver. These skills can be helpful in working cooperatively with others in the management of the church affairs.
My Promise
If elected, I will work to assure that we continue to be a caring Christian community that takes care of its members and is concerned about the people around us. Most of us have moved away from family and a life time of friends to this beautiful place in the desert. CCSB should be the place where we can be comfortable, as if we were with family and old friends.
